[ARCHIVED] Why Everyone Is Talking About EVs Right Now And Why Chevy Leads the Way

Originally Published April 2026
If it feels like you’re hearing more about electric vehicles lately, you’re not imagining it. With gas prices rising and fluctuating across the country, more drivers are making the switch to electric - and discovering just how practical, powerful, and cost-effective EVs can be.

At Lee Johnson Chevrolet, we’re seeing firsthand how quickly interest in EVs is growing, and why Chevrolet is one of the best brands to make the switch with.

Rising Gas Prices Are Driving Change
Recent spikes in fuel costs have pushed many drivers to rethink their daily commute. In fact, gas prices recently climbed to their highest levels in years, leading to a surge in EV interest across the U.S.

For many drivers, the appeal is simple:
  • No more stops at the gas station
  • More predictable monthly energy costs
  • Greater control over how and when you “fuel” your vehicle

Electric vehicles remove gas from your budget entirely, making it an increasingly smart financial choice.

Lower Cost of Ownership = More Savings
One of the biggest advantages of going electric is how much you can save over time.

Chevy EVs are designed to reduce long-term ownership costs with:
  • No oil changes and fewer maintenance needs
  • Fewer moving parts, meaning less wear and tear
  • Potential savings on fuel compared to gasoline

Drivers also enjoy the convenience of charging at home - waking up each day with a “full tank” without having to take time out of the day to visit a gas station.

Chevy EVs: Built for Real Life
Chevrolet has quickly become a leader in making EVs accessible, practical, and exciting to drive.

Here’s what sets Chevy EVs apart:
Impressive Range & Performance
  • Vehicles like the Chevy Equinox EV offer over 300 miles of range, making them ideal for both daily commutes and longer trips.
  • For those who need more capability, the Chevy Silverado EV delivers truck-level performance with up to nearly 500 miles of range and serious towing power.

Affordable Options for Every Driver
  • Chevy is committed to making EVs accessible, not just luxury vehicles.
  • The return of the Chevy Bolt brings one of the most affordable EV options on the market
  • New models are being designed to stay around the $30,000 range, opening EV ownership to more drivers than ever

Smart, Simple Technology
Chevy EVs are packed with innovative features that make driving easier and more efficient:
  • One Pedal Driving for smoother control
  • Regenerative braking to help recharge your battery
  • Pre-conditioning your cabin while plugged in

These technologies help maximize efficiency while delivering a modern, intuitive driving experience.

More Drivers Are Making the Switch
EV adoption is accelerating and Chevrolet is bringing new drivers into the electric world every day. In fact, about 75% of Chevy EV buyers are first-time EV owners, showing how approachable and user-friendly these vehicles are.

That means you don’t have to be an expert to make the switch, you just need the right dealership to guide you.

Make the Switch with Confidence
There’s never been a better time to explore electric driving. With rising gas prices, increasing availability, and more affordable options than ever, EVs are no longer the future - they’re happening right now.

[ARCHIVED] Chevy Celebrates America's 250th Anniversary with Stars & Steel Collection

Originally Posted January 2026 Chevrolet has announced the Stars & Steel Collection, a limited-edition lineup of vehicles created to coincide with the United States’ 250 th anniversary. The collection highlights distinctive patriotic design, modern performance, and a commitment to American craftsmanship. The Stars & Steel collection spans five of Chevrolet’s most iconic and hard-working models: Corvette, Silverado LD, Silverado HD, Silverado EV, and Colorado. Each vehicle in the collection will feature exclusive exterior colors, subtle American flag-inspired graphics, and select premium options designed to set them apart. True to the brand’s identity, every model in the collection is proudly assembled in the United States, underscoring Chevrolet’s continued investment in domestic manufacturing and innovation. Beyond design, the initiative carries a strong philanthropic component. For every Stars & Steel model sold, Chevrolet will donate $250 to nonprofits supporting the Veteran community, reinforcing Chevrolet’s longstanding relationship with America’s armed forces. In addition, Chevrolet will create a truly unique centerpiece for the program: a one-of-one Corvette ZR1X will be auctioned at Barrett-Jackson in January. All proceeds from that auction will benefit the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting fallen and injured service members, first responders, and their families. The collection made its first public appearance at America’s Game – the Army-Navy Game held on December 13 th. Production of the Stars & Steel Collection is expected to begin early Spring 2026, with package pricing to be announced soon. This tribute builds on Chevy’s long-standing presence in the U.S. automotive industry. Founded in 1911, Chevrolet quickly became known as “the people’s car,” offering dependable, attainable vehicles for a rapidly growing nation. Over the decades, Chevy has helped shape American car culture – from the post-war boom and rise of pickup trucks as workhorses of industry, to legendary performance icons like the Corvette, which debuted in 1953 and remains a global symbol of American engineering. Chevy’s trucks have long played a vital role in building and sustaining communities, while its manufacturing footprint has supported generations of American workers. That legacy continues today as the brand expands into electrification with vehicles like the Silverado EV, proving that innovation and tradition can move forward together. With the Stars & Steel collection, Chevrolet is not only commemorating a historic national anniversary, but also reaffirming what it has stood for since the beginning: American ingenuity, hard work, and a deep respect for those who serve.

Originally Published July 2026 The Lee Johnson Auto Family has wrapped up another successful year for the Evergreen State Fair Food Drive, and the results are nothing short of inspiring! With the support of our generous community members and customers, the Snohomish County Food Bank Coalition collected a significant amount of non-perishable food, all of which will go to support local food banks and families in need. This year’s food drive exceeded expectations, with an impressive number of non-perishables donated and thousands of free tickets distributed. The outpouring of support highlights the strong spirit of community that defines Kirkland and is imbedded in the fabric of the LJ Way! Every item donated translates into meals for families facing food insecurity – an especially meaningful contribution during the summer months when demand at food banks often increases, and supply often runs low. The Lee Johnson Auto Family would like to express our gratitude to everyone who contributed and emphasize how proud we are to be part of a community that comes together to support one another. Our partnerships with the Evergreen State Fair and the Snohomish County Food Bank Coalition serve as a powerful example of how local businesses can get involved and make a difference. As the Evergreen State Fair draws closer, excitement is building for what promises to be a fun-filled celebration of agriculture, entertainment, and community spirit. From thrilling rides and delicious fair food to exhibits and live performances, the fair is set to be a highlight of the summer – and now, thanks to the success of the food drive, it’s also a reminder of what we can accomplish when we work together.
